Yes. WCAG is applicable to mobile apps. WCAG applies to digital information like text, images, audio, videos, and code or markup. This is one of the most common questions in our Accessibility FAQs, because many clients think accessibility is only for websites. In reality, the same WCAG success criteria apply to both Android and iOS apps.

Accessibility statements may be legally required depending on your region. Beyond that, accessibility statements clearly communicate to users the state of your content’s accessibility, provide users with a way to get in touch with any accessibility issues, and show that you care about them. For this reason, we highly recommend including an accessibility statement. We provide accessibility statement freely as part of our accessibility services.

VPAT compliance is 100% necessary should you wish to enter into a contract with a federal agency that requires Section 508 compliance. However, other organizations and businesses can demonstrate their dedication and commitment to web accessibility by filling out a VPAT, as well. On average, ADA compliance services costs will vary depending on your website size, current compliance, and more. Making your website accessible comes down 1) an audit and 2) remediation. An accessibility audit is where one or more technical experts manually examine your website and looks for accessibility issues under WCAG 2.2 AA. Remediation is where someone implements the necessary changes so that your website complies with WCAG 2.2 AA. If your website has less to audit/fix, your quote will be lower. WCAG 2.0 came first and set the base rules for accessible content. WCAG 2.1 added new success criteria mainly for mobile users, low vision users and people with cognitive difficulties. WCAG 2.2 is the latest version and adds a few more criteria, such as easier focus visibility and simpler authentication. The time depends on the size of your website and how many unique page layouts it has. A small website with a few templates can be audited in a short time, while a large website with many dynamic pages, forms and media takes longer. We first review your site, then share a clear timeline before we start. Every accessibility audit we do includes both automated testing and manual checks with screen readers like JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver and TalkBack.

In most cases we can fix your existing website without a full rebuild. We audit the current site, list all the issues, and then remediate them so the site meets WCAG 2.2 AA.
